The Middle Georgia Chess Club hosted the MIDDLE GEORGIA WINTER WAR, G30 chess tournament in Macon, Georgia Saturday, January 13, 2024, 10am. EVENT OVERVIEW Five rounds, Swiss System, USCF rated. Three sections: Open (1500+): Open to USCF rated 1500+. Reserve (U1500): Open to USCF rated between 900 and 1499. Booster (U900): Open to USCF rated under 900 and Unrated. Sections were assigned based on players’ Regular ratings published on official USCF website (https://new.uschess.org/player-search). Sections were combined at Tournament Director’s discretion. Prizes: 100% of the proceeds went to the winners. Open: Nicholas Karras took 1st $165; Dr. Brad Roberson, Brian Villareal, and Chris Chambers tied for 2nd, 3rd and 4th $53 each. Reserve: Jason Scott, Jake Parker, Lucas Cooper, James Elder, Marlon Thomas tied for 1st - 5th $50 each. Booster: Timothy Marble took 1st $98, Willie Daniel took 2nd $53, Gage Currie took 3rd $30.
