Middle Georgia Summer Skirmish, G/30. Saturday July 22, 2023
The Middle Georgia Chess Club hosted the Middle Georgia Summer Skirmish, G/30, a US Chess Federation (USCF) rated chess tournament, Saturday July 22nd in Macon, Georgia.
The event was a five round, Swiss system with Game/30 minutes and zero increments time control; three sections: OPEN (1500+), RESERVE (U1500), and BOOSTER (U1000); and held at the beautiful St. Innocent Orthodox Church, Parish Hall. 7301 Rivoli Road, Macon, GA 31210. In all, 22 players competed in the event, which has a prize fund of $660 and $30 entry fee. Congratulations are in order for 1) Frankie Smith, Daniel Gentry and Dr. Harinder Brar (3-way tie 1st - 3rd) in the OPEN section; 2) Jake Parker and Gio Kim (tied 1st - 2nd) and Neil Aranda (3rd) in the RESERVED section; and 3) Lucas Cooper and Jason Scott (tied 1st - 2nd) and Timothy Marble and Robert Dorman (tied 3rd).
